My 997 and I

A lovely day out at simply started with a meet up Rownhams for the short convoy in to Beaulieu.
It was quite a sight with a long line of 911's all together

Yes. 1000 cars there on the day apparently (source beaulieu website).

Pretty unique to see so many together.

BTW your Speed yellow Turbo is a right eye full in the rear view mirror and certainly has some presence 8)

SY is Certainly not for shrinking violets

Really good to follow yours in as it reminded me of the C2S I bought new in 2004. Same wheels but Seal Grey. Kept it 7years. Think I still have all the glossy marketing and sales material from the time somewhere. Will dig it out for a future meet if you are interested in looking through it.

Thanks I'd appreciate that G2, my next 911uk meet will probably be Donnington if you are attending.

Tuesday evening had a run out 'to a local Motorsport reunion meeting.
Always very pleasant and had good company with a very nice early Boxster, a Gen 1 Turbo and a selection of very nice Escorts.

if i told my wife i was heading out to spend the night with 3 porsches and a load of escorts - i would be in trouble!!!

great pics though of the cars but i'm more of a later cosworth man myself

Lol

I owned 3 Sapphire Cosworths, the 2wd car was one of the most entertaining cars I've ever owned. Back in 89 it was a performance bargain.

Has one back in the 90s before buying a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo in 1996 and has it modified to 500bhp which made it one of the fastest things on the road 20years ago.

Recently drove a 2WD Saphire Cosworth and couldn't believe how cars have progressed. A 335d BMW would leave it for dead and probably so would a 320d both with regards to performance and road holding.

Who would have thought 10 years ago that an oil burner would leave a fast Ford. Probably the fastest fast Ford this side of the GT40.

yes part of me worries that i would hate driving it now....never meet your heroes again when they are 20 years older?

Yes progress sees many a yesteryear performance car toasted by new modern cars but at the time we were all all living the dream.

Back then 500hp was really 'up there' and not to be laughed at now👍

I think there is every danger that 20 years on it could be disappointing but we are sentimental creatures so nothing wrong with reviving fond memories :thumb:
