Is it me or have Turbo prices softened - Brexit/Elections?

Softening, don't care, however, numbers an all that, compared to the competition the Turbo is still a complete bargain at there prices and its a hell of a car. I also think the 997 is one of the best looking 911's.

Every specialist or dealer I speak to says keep hold of it, it will be better than money in the bank.

With regards to Hot hatches :floor: Please :wack: ...mine beats motorbikes

A mate of mine went to the Monaco GP this year with a bunch of acquaintances. He went in his Ferrari 612 there were a few mclarens of varying sizes (small to large) a Lambo ventador etc.

There was also 997.2 turbo with a pdk box.

Everyone agreed that it was the car to have as it hung with the pack of the mental expensive ones around the twisty bits of the route napoleon ( or whatever it was) and led the pack on the boring bits too.

Steves heavy gt Ferrari was driven hard, had cat lights cone on etc. would watch the McClarens disappear in a heat haze from time to time, but the 997 turbo was hanging with them.

They're just one hell of a car aren't they! 8)

Not sure if Steve regretted getting rid of his for the Scagletti or the €500 for 5 drinks at rascas cafe...

I'll bet that turbo was stock? I'd imagine with a light tune it would stick with those McLarens, or keep them honest at least :)

Yep,it was stock. Easily kept them honest anyway and set the pace a lot by all accounts. Fricking love ❤️ these cars!

Maybe the answer is in the point you're trying to make?

The 991 is not the same lineage as the 996. Its a completely different engine, completely different chassis, made for a different time and consumer. The 991 is more a large tourer than a 'relatively' nimble sports car.

Because of this the 996 will find its own space, just like the 993 and the 997.1. It is unique in several ways and has arguably a more involved drive than the younger cars.

But just like everyone else, I can't predict the market. When I bought mine I could have had a 996 GT2 for only a few £k more but thought it wasn't worth the extra! :pc:

Let's not be total 911 semantic nerds! It's the same lineage in the sense that it's the modern generation, water cooled. You know what i mean. The 993 is the odd one for me, air cooled but a particular body shape that many adore and others shrug at. And i say as one one of those who love them.

Yes they have. Across the board 996Turbos and 997.1 Turbos have. Low mileage cars have bucked the trend.

I don't look daily (or even weekly) I'll admit but I have not really noticed a softening over the last 12 months in gen 1 values. Your talking about the gen 1 specifically as far as manuals prices seem to be rising, tips they look to be stable to me.

I do. Gen1 Tips have fallen about 5% in the last 12 months. Manuals a bit less. They're still a lot dearer than they were 2.5 years ago.

Two/three years ago the gen 1 Turbo was seriously undervalued IMO it was an absolute bargain considering what it offers, still is really.

Agreed.

Gen 2/Turbo S has risen quite strongly and good low mile cars very hard to come by just look at how few are for sale and how few are with the best indie dealers I have been offered more than I paid for my car with 8k extra miles two years after I bought it.

The gulf in asking prices for average mileage per year G2 v G1 cars has increased. The additional premium for an S has always been there.

Gen 1.5 cars are very sought after too and fetch a significant premium over a Gen1.

Of course when looking at list prices we don't know the exact condition of the car or how it drives that's a given. I don't see any good gen 1/gen 2 car hanging around at all even at strong money.

Absolutely. Some of the rough ones sell quite quickly too - especially if they're priced right.

Terry, I don't care if they go up or down. I want first dibs on yours please when it's time for you to pass it over to a new custodian.

Just don't do that in the next couple of years. Thx!

I had a 993 Turbo, and thought it was so beautiful AT THE TIME - the Turbo or S still cuts it the rest (narrow body) are laughable and leave me cold now.

A tuned 996 / 997 Turbo (not just a map I mean Hybrids etc) is a weapon

Quick question. Seen gen 1.5 referred to turbos a few times.

What are they and why are they prized?

They have the PCM3 fitted... that's it. Although "some say" the AWD system was updated too but that has not been verified.

No one seems to know the numbers but it must be low, only the last of the GEN 1 in 2009, they put the pcm3 in and to me and I'm biased it looks so much better and obviously USB iPod connection.

I've only looked at turbo does anyone have a 1.5 none turbo?

There aren't any... pretty sure only the Turbo's and later model GT2's got the PCM3.

Ok. Understand. So gen 1 car with pcm 3.0

It is such an upgrade over pcm 2.1. I can understand why it would be sought after.

I wish this had softened more.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201705185567856

I remember it being for sale elsewhere within the last 12 months I think. I hated the interior but I'm now willing to forgive it for the buckets.

I still think the 996 Turbo could be the ugly duckling, first water cooled 911 Turbo(correct???), M engine and headlight shape unlikely to be used again(rightly or wrongly 😉).

As for the hot hatches, I reckon that golf R in the clip stands the owner in more than my car would sell for and I know which I'd rather be driving.

Not used it myself but its got touch screen, upgraded SatNav, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity so it is better.

There are 3 people on this site who have converted theirs, isysman for one and posted his efforts on his GT2RS build thread.
Not confident to do that myself but I would happily pay someone to :)
