Aero Mk 1 / GT3 Mk 1 Front splitter compatibility?

Judder said:
Quick dumb question - what does PU refer to - Porsche Undercarriage :?:

PolyUrethane i.e. the material it is made from.

As matter of interest, my front splitter (996.1 Cup Aerokit aka GT3) was quite scratched when I bought my car so I rang my local OPC about a month ago and they quoted £109 inc VAT and delivery to replace it. A year ago it would have been £50!

Decided a new one was only going to look scratched again in a matter of months, so I just smothered it in "Back to Black" instead and it looks (almost) like new.

Demon, have you got a pic of the splitter on the non aero front bumper?

A slightly old picture, but probably the clearest I have to hand....
- I'll look through my invoices tonight to see if I can find the part number

As requested 996 Mk2 Cup splitter fitted to 996.1 with factory GT3 Aero kit.

Clearance is not as bad I first thought, the front ride height is set to 117mm from the correct measuring point and this give 100mm clearance from the splitter to the ground.

Apologies for the garbage quality pictures, I did however remove my ctek hence why the frunk is open.

Just for reference:

996.1 GT3 Cup version splitter

996.505.986.90 "Local Racing" £46.20 + VAT

(few years ago)

So I picked up the splitters from Porsche Reading this Saturday and here's some photos for reference

Porsche996SplittersLow.jpg

The cup one is much wider all round as has Porsche reference number:

whereas the GT3 / Aero Mk#1 one is considerably slimmer and has Porsche reference number:

Anyone know if the Cup Splitter out of interest fits the C4S? :thumb:

What did they cost?

I'll update the exact prices tonight (receipt is at home) but they were both around £80 with the .00 one being slightly under, and the .91 being slight over

Pretty reasonable I thought!

BTW from my researching here is what I could find out about the part numbers and what they are

996.505.986.00 = Aero 1 lip
996.505 986 02 = G2X Aero kit 2
996.505.986.90 = GT3 Cup Front Splitter for 99-01 996
996.505.986.91 = GT3 Cup Front Splitter Motorsports RS cup lip
996.505.986.92 = G2X Aero 2 larger GT3

(G2X I guess they mean Generation #2)

Here's some photos and links for the ones I don't have

996.505.986.90

Very like the .00 Aero #1 one

Looking forward to how the - 996.505.986.91 one looks on your aero front bumper.

Please let me know how many extra holes need to be drilled for this..

With the exception of the centre hole, all of the hole need to be drilled, circa 12 from memory.

I have this splitter on my 996.1 aero bumper, it's often referred to as the super cup splitter.

In addition to drilling new holes in your PU to mount it you will also have to trim a little off the splitter itself.
