PS2s obsolete, n-rated and warranty

I'm facing the same dilemma at the moment. I have the Sports Cup on my car,and not much profile left on all four, felt a bit uncomfortable driving in heavy rain yesterday.

Spoke today to a local specialist porsche dealer, and whilst they recommended to stick to N-rated tyres (mostly for resale reasons), they also advised to check with my Insurance to make sure that i don't invalidate my cover without n-rated tyres.... will give them a buzz tomorrow, and if i get the green light i will probably go for the MPS4S

by the way, is there a difference between the PS4 and PS4S? not looking to track the car...

Would also make you think it is more about the commercial arrangements between Porsche and the tyre giants rather than any real technical reason

Absolutely.

Refused me a warranty last year until I fitted a Porsche battery!!!!!

Mine came with the Bridgestones and I quickly swapped them out for a set of Cup 2's. When they wore out I went for PS4S's and they are a brilliant tyre, same dry grip as the Cup 2's and better in the wet. The Bridgestone's are a good couple of generations behind.

If anyone is looking for a used set of Bridgestone's to keep for warranty purposes I still have mine sitting in my garage but my car isn't warrantied so I don't need them. Just haven't got around to doing anything with them yet, I'd let them go for a donation to my beer fund!

While I do believe having front and rear different will affect handling - I am wary to even try an N0 with an N1 pair - I do believe that a lot of the rest is marketing BS. Maybe, just maybe if you were trying to eke out the last second or 2 on the Nürburgring, but otherwise... BS. (oh, and yes, some tires will behave nicer on a 997 than others, but that has little to do with the N's)
