HI all

I'm a complete noob here so please be gentle if i miss any essential info. I've been scouring forums all over and have yet to find an answer so thought I'd try my luck on here.

I have 2003 996 which has PCM with Nav and I'm looking to replace this with the 2Din Parrot. It seems my unit uses the MOST bus and this is a problem for fitting other head units.

Basically, can anyone tell me how to "simply" fit this head unit. I don't want to replace everything, just the unit itself. If not, are there any units out there that are compatible with the current set up.

Note: This is not the BOSE system, it's the original harman kardon becker unit but it does have the fibre optic loop.

Please ask if you need more info and I'll supply if I can!

Thanks

Matt

Hi,

You should do some research into connects2 interfaces and also Nav tv.

http://www.connects2.co.uk/products/accessories/active-system-adapters/vehicle/Porsche/911

https://www.nav.tv/manufacturer/porsche

I think they will both do the job but the Nav tv unit is considerably more expensive. I don't know if it is any better though.

Also have a look on eBay as there are sometimes some interfaces advertised.

There is a member called stefant who recently fitted a Kenwood head unit so may be worthwhile sending him a PM as he will have all the details of what he fitted.

Good luck.

Thanks for that - both those providers advise they only work on the 997 :(

Hi Shotfox,
Have a look at this thread it may be of some use to you.

Thanks, would love to see if those adapter work on the earlier MOST system. I spoke to both provider and they say they only work from the 997 onwards.

Hi,

Give these guys a call they may be able to give you better info.

This is a mod I plan for the future as not impressed with my PCM2 and I also have a 2003 car.

Thanks again, just called them and they say they don't have a product :(

Seems the Denison gateway may be the only reasonable upgrade without changing out the whole system.

It is possible to use an adaptor.

Why not drop stefant a PM and ask him about his installations he only did it a few weeks ago.

I know little about car electrics but this was fitted by previous owner to my 2003 996 , it made it easy to fit Pioneer Apple car play unit

It works well ,all Bose speakers work including sub woofer ,the only thing you lose is the ability to fade front to rear and to honest who ever sits in the rear ,side to side balance is not affected
