Seat belt suddenly went floppy!

Driving the car back from its annual service today, about 2 miles away from the garage the seat belt suddenly lost tension and went totally loose. Stopped and gave it a few pulls, which "fixed" it... but how much confidence do I now have it its ability to save my life?

Does it need a fix or replacement?

[Parked up in my garage, walking back to my house I passed another forum members black on black 997 which I notice has red belts. Hmmm... Red would complement the new red calipers and break up a very dark car...Black on Midnight Blue with the odd burst of red... ]

PS: Having spoken to Jaz, they say seat belt failure is incredibly rare (replaced one in a 993 ever). Their suggestion...see if it happens again.

Is this a gamble I should take for a £120 part? (I'm thinking, replace it immediately).

Also...how difficult can it be to fit one?

(Red - £180ea... gone off that idea!)

Replace it. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind and your life. ;)

Not a fan of coloured belts personally but each to their own.

You could always get a pair of these if a flash of Red is required...

Tobes , do it.

I replaced the factory black belts in my 997 with factory spec red ones.

It lifts the interior and compliments the red brake calipers.

It is a DIY job or pay £££ to have it done as it takes all day.

There is a specialist seat belt company in West Byfleet that replaced the webbing for me and they work on some very high end cars. But the prices are very reasonable.

Might be worth speaking to Stuart at Quickfit safety belts.
