Potential daily driver, lots of miles :) (Now Actual Driver)

Taken a fair few emails but got to the solution of the red bezel...

Techart in Germany charge 95 euro to paint the bezel. plus tax & postage.

I tried to buy a mode switch from Porsche parts dept, to send to Germany, but the conclusion was that Porsche do not sell the part!!! the only way you can get one is to buy a whole steering wheel from Porsche, as that is the minimum they will sell you. lol how ridiculous!

So if you want it painting as the image from the techart website, you can have it removed and post it to techart and they will paint it and return it to you. if you can live without the switch for a couple of weeks, then fire on!

Measured my tyre tread depths today... ordered a new set of rears for in a few weeks time, so it will be new rears at 14,000 miles. Fronts still have loads left, so going to be well over 20k for them. Pretty good!!

Went to the Geneva Motor Show... aside from the god awful bling cars that are deemed attractive to oligarchs, there were some very nice cars to see. That 1960's Ruf!! proper car porn.

Not so good is the delicacy of the 991.2 windscreen, i've had the odd stone chip over the years of various cars, but this things screen chips at the nearest whisper of a grain of dust. Have already had couple of repairs to passenger side, but last week had a tiny chip in middle of the screen one journey and awoke the next morning to a lovely cracked screen. First time I've ever had a car thats screen has gone. Its a small crack, one for the 20k service in a few months.

Very Max Power indeed. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. :nooo:

Wish Pirelli would put as much effort into getting a tyre that equals or surpasses the best from Michelin rather than putting lipstick on a pig - still a pig without the gaudy sidewalls.

The car is lovely! I'm very jealous, and can only dream to be in your position. Fingers crossed for more happy miles!

Ha! indeed, they are a bit. Its funny how certain things suit different 911's... before i bought one, never really noticed, but things like Miami Blue & Lava Orange, suits the more top-trumps end of the 911 spectrum like a turbo or GT3 more than a mere Carrera.

Would be intrigued to see colour matched sapphire blue on the tyre walls ;)

Whilst i've been a Michelin fan in the past, and always has PS2's etc on my RS6, the P Zero has definitely developed, and have been very happy with the N2 performance on the 991.2 in grip through Autumn, Winter & Spring and also its durability. Have new rears booked for the end of the month. :thumb:

Was nice to see the updated Apple Car Play appear on the PCM this week, the shortcuts down the right hand side a welcome addition.

Treated the car to a fresh detail and wax this week with the sun finally shining.

p-zero's N2's? I keep looking but cannot find these anywhere unless i'm doing something stupid. I called Porsche Reading for replacement pzero's for my 991.1 C2S and they told me to go for N0's as they had the 245 fronts and 295 rears in big quantities.

I asked about the N1's in 245 fronts and 305 rears (N1 doesn't seem to be available in 295) and they said they didn't have many of those tyres so were probably being superseded and teh N0 woudl be a better bet. Didn't make any sense to me.

Sorry! Typo. N1's... I struggled to find also, so have gone direct to Pirelli Performance Centre. Like a posh tyre spa!

Thanks. So i'm clear i should go N1's over N0's even if it means moving from 295 rears to 305 rears?

This seems back to front to me on several levels.

Firstly my 991.1 has always been on 305 rears... it was supplied with N0's in that size and now has N1's. The Good to know app confirms that as the size for summer tyres for my C4s (mine is a June 2014 MY15 car).

I needed a new set recently and my understanding from the research I'd did was that the N1 has superseded the N0. My OPC recommended N1's with 305 rears.

I certainly think mine rides better since I swapped, but then new tyres are always more compliant than old ones! Plus the rim protection is much bigger on the N1 than the N0 which is a big plus.

A mate got his 991.2 C2S in Nov and that came on N1's also in 305 so I would say N0's are old stock...

Not sure where the 295 figure comes from at all?

Thanks. Mine's a 2012 C2S and it seems 295 were standard at the time. From what i can tell there's no issue going to 305's. Just seemed really strange that the OPC tried to suggest the N0 would be a better move and it wasn't an older tyre.

My 2013 C2S has 295s on the rear as well. I think it did depend on alloy wheel choice whether they were 295 or 305, from memory from what I saw on the configurator before 991.2 came out the Sport Techno had 305 where as the Carrera S and Carrera Classic had 295.

Mine is on 20" Carrera Classics... :?:

Just double checked as I had photos of mine when it needed its first new set. Mine was supplied on 305 rears - 991.1 C4s June 2014. Cant recommend the N1's enough over the N0's of the same size.

Approaching 7 months ownership and a little over 14,000 miles, time for some new boutique rubber...

Rear tyres were a little over 3mm. If i pushed the boundaries i could have got another thousand or so miles out of them, possibly up to 16,000 miles, but happy with the circa 15k they've done and also happy that they are wearing nice and evenly across the width of both tyres. Comparing side by side, good to see the new tyre depths ready for our British Summertime rain ;)

First time that i've visited a Pirelli Performance Centre... glad I did, the tech that they have there and the attention to detail is awesome. Well worth the trip and the service was another level. Not a tyre lever in sight, the machines change the tyres and no equipment comes into contact with any of the alloys except for the centre mounting point, so no chance of any accidental scratches. Also they are meticulously clean and all previous balancing weight adhesive cleaned off etc. Alloys looked as crisp and good as new.

They checked every square millimetre of tyres, alloys and geometry etc. both new for the rears and an inclusive detailed check of the fronts. Fronts still have 5 or 6mm on them, thats incredible for a performance car (I must try harder lol), so look like they are going to be good for over 30,000 miles so I expect that at the end of this year / early next, about the 30k mark i will be replacing both fronts and rears at same time as reckon i'll be about 16k on these rears.
