No dude car will prob be apart fitting new ball bearing turbos and I have to be at The Pod friday as my mate is going for the European drag record in an R35
Even if the turbos are on it wont get mapped in time

Yup, going to the peak performance test and tune, he has my R35 Line Lock kit fitted so going to make sure its getting used correctly.

Will go down and see Matt next week. Getting the machining done at chesman engineering in Coventry, they've got a good rep.

They all weigh the same, you think getting them balanced will be necessary?

The shells are all brand new except the intermediate shaft shells, they look reused so ordered new ones. Expected something like that tbh, pays to check it out.

Intermediate shaft, pump and crank all check out pristine.

Crower tell me that the crank is balanced, but I'll get the whole assembly done along with flywheel etc.

Pistons are all within 1g on these scales, would that be close enough?

It's about £100 to check so won't break the bank, but I don't want to spend unnecessarily.

I can understand crank all built up will be worth checking.

With rods its the end to end balance but ill bet they are pretty spot on.

Bought a more accurate scale:

Rods - Pistons

450.72 - 488.06 = 1426.84
451.22 - 487.92 = 1427.06
451.25 - 487.68 = 1426.61
451.32 - 487.61 = 1426.54
451.65 - 487.54 = 1426.73
451.65 - 487.40 = 1426.45

Delta: 0.93 / 0.66 / 0.61

So i don't think its too bad from the factory.

As john says, rods are end to end, but if they are that close overall i am confident the end to end weight will be accurate

Got my full gasket set from ECS in the states, was agod price but none of the gaskets are labelled. i called them and they said its proprietry information from the supplier! s ive had to list them all out and now will match them up before i start, shouldnt be too difficult, but will take time.

I was running more power and torque in the Porsche and it's noticeable, but off the line and in the lower gears, GTR is far more nimble and precise.

On the motorway the Porsche is much more pleasant and faster in the midrange. The GTR revs higher in 6th so it just feels more on edge.

Tech wise, the 996 shows its age but neither lack quality. The fit and finish is par on the GTR, it's just the mechanical sounding gearbox. It's like listening to a chain and sprocket at low revs, i went in 5 and they were all the same. It's not a daily so i can live with it and im looking forward to the Nurburgring trip I've got planned, but if it was my only car id get an M5. I
