Barn Find Refurbishment

That's a transformation and a half already! 8)

It's pretty amazing what can be achieved using the right products.

I used to tell my first wife that.

Never went down well....this could go on but i will stop there.

Blimey ....... I thought my engine bay was pretty clean .......

p.s. Have to ask ....... how long did that take to do?

A very full day including removing some of the bigger parts to make cleaning easier. Air box, heater pipes etc. Also made it easier to replace the knackered hood shocks!

Barn Find - Wheel Arches

Now moved on to remove 23 years of built up crud under the wheel arches.

These 993s are amazing! I don't know of many cars that would come up this good after 23 years and over 80k miles.

Note: discs will be replaced and callipers still to be painted.

I almost thought this was going to be a 'George Eaton' car but you've actually seen it

Speak to an expert before you attempt to start it :thumb:

Re: ENGINE BAY

Starting with the dirtiest bits, first up is the engine bay.

Copious amounts of Truck Wash then a damn good go with the pressure washer ... Er no!

Careful application of All Purpose Cleaner (APC) working small areas at a time, cold water rinse, blow dried and then ACF50 applied to engine bay and electrical connections.

BB ....
That process has worked really well fella .....looks like new mate ... Great job so far ....
I must watch this thread now ...!will be interesting to see how you get on ...!

Well not quite 'found' but kept in a barn for a fair few years while my friend carried out a major building project.
He has owned the car since 2001 and now he has a garage again he wants me to give his 993 Cab a full refurbishment.

I thought it would be of interest to show what an improvement could be made.

I've got my work cut out on this one but as a big 993 fan I know it will be worth it 8)

Note. It will not be going up for sale afterwards.

Bruce I would like to apply to be one of your friends....I have a driveway find C4S that I could do with you showing me what an improvement you could make on it for me.........

Very impressive work sir!

INTERIOR

This part has taken quite a while to get to a point I'm happy with.

This is what I call a Heavy Duty Deep Clean!

First I removed all that could be removed then blew out the interior with an airline, then vacuum up as much as possible, apply enzyme eater to all fabrics (not leather), allow it to digest all the matter it can, then all surfaces washed down with a mild APC, rinsed, dried. Leather cleaned, dried and dye applied to scuffed areas (multiple times). Apply protection to leather and other surfaces and vacuum again. Phew!

Amazing work so far but I fear the blistering in the tail light will be too much :?:

That needs a new lense surely....i will stand by this statement until further evidence has been released.
