Need help with Cayenne S Hybrid blind issue

Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone can help me and a frustrated billionaire?? :D

I'm in the Bahamas right now and my boss is having issues with his Cayenne. There is I'm told no dealer here in Bahamas and the garage who is not a specialist wants $1,000 per window to repair it. And I'm not sure they even know what they are doing certainly with a Porsche.

So I have made a short video and you can see the blind is going mental. It happens on both rear windows when you operate the electric window button. The windows do not move at all in either direction. (the captain said it looks like the car is jerking itself off!)

I've told the chief engineer that we should order a Durametric cable which we are going to do so hopefully I will be able to diagnose this issue once connected. We also have the horn beep twice when I lock the car so there is another underlying issue going on as well.

I was going to disconnect the battery and do the learning process but its a Hybrid and I didn't know what might happen if I did that. I pulled the fuses instead but as soon as I pulled the button it started over again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd disconnect the battery to see if that solves it as an alternative to clearing out the fault codes via durametric. The problem of course is the battery is under the seat somewhere :what: It shouldn't affect the hybrid as that is I believe a separate battery to the one that controls auxilliaries (ie normal car battery)

My Cayenne had some 'electrical' issues  Sometimes the comfort entry wouldn't return the seat to the memory position when I got back in. I kept my Bay City Roller platforms handy in case the memory button didn't work to take the seat back to where I left it  Never did get to the bottom of it :frustrated:

So the battery is under the rear seat?

Don't see a battery under the seat. What year was yours, this is a 2013 model.

I think the captains description is pretty accurate! Its the noise that goes with it...

Reminds me of staying in a youth hostel in the 1980s.........

Short stroke, Rags?

On the earlier 957 gen cars, I think the battery is under the passenger front seat, or drivers side if a left hooker. I personally would tread very carefully there....

Yeah I don't really want to disconnect the battery. I'm trying to get this Durametric cable shipped over.

Ordered the Durametric cable today, so we will see what happens when I get it. I did ask Alan Dyde at Porsche Wilmslow and he actually came back to me.

"sorry but cannot think of anything you can do other that try to get window
up-down on a full cycle from front or window switch if it allows you to.
otherwise requires a calibration with system tester."

Hope it's not the last bit. I don't think I could do that with the cable I ordered. Car would have to be shipped to US!

Forget the battery option as you have to take the front passenger seat out just to get to it :nooo: In the 958 they are still under the floor however charging points are fortunately in the engine bay.

Yeah I saw the charging points, but I wanted to disconnect the battery to hopefully be able to reset the windows. I have Wilmslow Porsche sending me the workshop manual for it.

Window controller (some people call it a regulator) fault.

I can't see the you tube video at work, i will try and find time tonight.

I am available to fly out with my PIWIS :D

Thanks for the info. That's very generous of you!

It looks like theres some sort of rollback protection that the blind is stuck on , it needs to be closed before the window will work .

Im not aware of a manual way of moveing them , check the owners manual and also try turning on or off rear child lock on the doors and operating the windows from the divers door switches .

I think youll going to need a piwis or something similar though to test or calibrate them .

Disconnecting the battery probably wont help as all it will do is cause the windows to loose there stored up and down positions .. one touch wont work in other words .

Battery is under the front passenger seat .. obviously dont touch anything on the battery in the rear .. thats the hybrid one and has nothing to do with the vehicle electrics .

Thanks Dermot. Yeah I've tried the child lock thing. It's the same from the front. Both windows do it as well so it seems odd that both mechanical motors could fail. I thought resetting the windows via a battery disconnect might allow them to be calibrated. At least with the Durametric I'll be able to get error codes.

Boss doesn't want them fixed, he wants them disabled but the ability to open the windows.
