Hi have always wanted to attend this event has anyone ever been?
And how did you go? Package? Or arrange yourself? Any help or tips for a good trip would be much appreciated
Thanks

Went a few years ago, made our own arrangements, drove down and stopped outside Nice, used the train to get from Nice to the race having purchased entrance tickets in advance.

Hi Budgie,
Have been a few times now since 1996 - simplest way is book your easyjet flights to Nice now! - As pretzel says use the train from Nice to Monaco, it stops at some lovely villages along the coast, (Beaulieu, Eze Sur Mer and Villefranche is our firm favourite) find accomodation in either Nice, Villefranche, Beaulieu etc - if its your first time might be worth getting grandstand tickets but they are expensive and in my opinion a wast of money - last few years we have gone to a restaurant on the outside of Rascasse corner for Qualifying and the price for all day includes great buffet food/unlimited local Rose' and beer throughout the day, mini grandstand, TV screens, clean toilets etc -

How is Monaco itself?

I've been to the GP twice and Monaco on other occasions at least 20 times. What do you mean by 'how is Monaco itself?'

Have never been so what is it like? I suppose it is completely taken over by the race weekend .

At race weekend it's really manic with everyone getting herded around like sheep. Don't contemplating going near the place in a car. Train is the only convenient way in and out. Price wise it's pretty good and some of the bars are cheaper than other places on the Riviera. If you want to 'sight see' monaco and monte carlo, forget it at race weekend. Fences up everywhere and most places special access, etc.
