yeh, just had a new Porsche sender unit fitted as the needle was permanently jammed on full. I notice that nothing happens with the needle until I have been going a few miles, and then its constantly up and down unless I park on flat ground then it stays at its reading.

is this normal, why doesn't it give a reading when I put the key in the ignition from cold?

do I need to get it back to the garage? Wasn't cheap.

Oil level indicator can only be regarded as accurate when the car is parked on level ground, engine at idle and fully up to normal operating temperature. When driving it is normal for the needle to indicate in the red zone when RPM >2000 (all oil out of tank and circulating through the engine). Below 2000 RPM the oil level gauge may fluctuate.
