Service history query

Hi all,

I'm considering a 997.1 purchase and I have a couple of questions about service history. I know that a good independent is every bit as capable as an OPC but;

1. Can I still put a Porsche warranty on a car without a full OPC service history (assuming it passes the 111 point inspection)
2. What are people's thoughts on a 30,000 mile 2007 car with four services recorded but only the first being at an OPC and the other three being done at independent specialists?

Thanks in advance for your input

1. I think you can, subject to the car being standard and having a service history acceptable to the insurers. EDIT: Having typed that I'm doubting myself.

2. For me it would depend on who the other services have been done by. They'd need to be recognised Porsche specialists.

If buying a 997.1 I'd probably want to get an OPC warranty on it so if 1. isn't possible then 2. wouldn't even be a consideration.

Unlikely would be my guess. Any car can have a 111-point inspection but its what it brings up that matters. You may need to spend a lot replacing after-market parts with OPC parts. They may state at the outset that based on history, they will not offer an OPC Warranty.

So if you intend to go for such warranty, scrutinise the history carefully before you even decide to take the purchase decision any further.

Missed services may be a no-go, but also paint a picture of the car's previous owner and approach to looking after the vehicle.

Recognised specialists shouldn't be an obstacle. Its obscure general outfits that may have done a satisfactory maintenance history but OPC may not be happy with.
