where did you get your protection film applied?

OK, so I know one of the forum sponsors is a well known and recommended fitter of pp film, but are there any other companies in the bucks, northants and oxon area that you have used and can recommend?

Need to get the fronts done on both of ours.

Thanks.

:stay: I had planned to go for a front end spray and paint protection this year but what with my engine woes this will happen next year now. I did speak to a local firm some time back but the cost saving was fairly small when compared to a company that specialises in paint protection films and fits this stuff day in day out.

Just had my front PU, front wings, bonnet, scuttle, A-pillars, sills, rear PU, inside edge of rear quarters and wing top element done in SunTek self heal film at Paint Shield last week. Their service, templates, fitment and finish is spot on. Had a demo of the film; wire brush rubbed on it  scratched up  hot water poured on it :? back to being totally clear and scratch free! :D The stuff's brilliant. No more swirls or gravel rash now on the protected parts, just need to book in to do the rest of the car at some point....

A few pics from the day. A pair of brand new R's one white and one black had just been finished earlier in the day.

Notts, please could you pm me to let me know what to expect to pay?

Thanks

Monkey

I'm sure a smash guard branch is in Greseley Close, Daventry. The same building has a detailer based (Deep Impact Detailing) I'm sure you would like to take a look😀
As your so close not sure if mentioned it on here but Long March Motors in Daventry offer 10% discount on MOTs for Porsche Club members ( 911 UK is a club😃) The owner Andy is a good guy into his cars, current model M3 cab and fair. Think his current rate is £37 less the 10%

New cars look good👍

Thanks Geoff!

I've found a place in Banbury as well and will look into smash guard.

Hi

I had a glass-out respray on my 996T earlier this year by Fast Lane and took up the opportunity of having the Suntek Ultra fitted on it and having just had our annual hoon around the Pyrenees with a group of friends, I am delighted that there are absolutely no marks at all. It has 100% done its job - the paintwork is still perfect - same can't sadly be said for the GT4 in our group

I was recommended by a friend to Nick Phelps of Curvature Group 01296 663266 who are based near Tring, Herts and am really pleased - Nick is a great guy to deal with and a complete petrolhead :) I'm not connected in anyway but just another very happy customer of his

:thumb:

Hope this helps

This is literally 10 minutes away from me and on the same estate as one of my clients. Looking at their website I am a little confused to say the least.... Is this a sideline to their business?

Your car does look lovely. Did you have it sprayed the same colour? Any indication on cost for the protective film?

Yes Nick has a few business interests which he very kindly showed us around their facilities. He got into it after some compliments at a track day a few years ago which then then led to several booked orders. I think that he is an engineer by trade :?: as his main business is 3D modelling (I hope I have that correct!) by making pre-production objects for some very well known manufacturers - all in fantastic quality - for appraisal purposes

While we were there, he had in an McLaren 675LT which was brand new and had been trailered down from Glasgow which was part way through a full PPF cover :worship:
He had previously PPF'd my friend's 996 3RS, 997RS, 458 special, etc so I knew I could be confident of the workmanship

I think he said that he has 2 or 3 guys full time doing this (with him overseeing all the way through)

Thank you that's very kind :D yes in Cobalt Blue. I have had it over 10 years and still love it.

He also restored the headlights for minimal cost (as he had suggested covering them in PPF but they were in poor shape) they look close to perfect to me now. ( I was deliberating what to do with them and had bought a Meguiars resto kit but hadn't got round to it) new ones are £1,850+VAT each apparently :eh!:

I had the following covered:

1. Front bumper
2. Full bonnet
3. Full front wings
4. A pillars
5. Mirrors
6. Doors (to help a bit against parking dings )
7. Leading edge of roof
8. Sills
9. Blade part of rear spoiler
10. Slimmed shark fins equivalent
11. Slim sections behind rear wheels
12. Headlight ovals

So quite a lot of coverage  Basically it's all leading edges so it should be good for another 10 years or so I reckon!

I would really recommend you giving Nick a call so that you can run through the options/tailor it to how cover you would like. He is a really nice guy to deal with. Very happy to PM me if you would like

:thumb:

PS Maybe a bit biased but I think it looks better than when it was on TV a few years ago ?

SNB - thanks for the heads up regarding Nick.

Your car looks stunning mate. What a colour!! 8)

Thank you that's very kind :D

One more from Le Mans Classic - my current screensaver

Approx 1,500 miles after it was fitted. (700 of which were in the Pyrenees). A quick wash up and it's as good as new
