Who good for Insure a car

Pays to shop around.

997.2 PDK 2009 - Full NCB and driver over 50 - 7k miles

AIB £649

DirectLine £490

Classicline (Porsche policy) £468 including agreed value at close to OPC replacement price

I will not speak to AIB until the next passing of Haley's Comet after yesterdays quote. Currently with a specialist broker, 4 years NCD, age >60, low risk Cheshire post code, clean license, agreed valuation, max 5k miles per annum.
Renewal premium mid £300's.

AIB "Best Price, Highly Recommended" like-for-like policy and cover >£1000!!!!

AIB you're having a giraffe aren't you?

Lets see if you are better when Haley's Comet passes again.

That's surprising to say the least, we're with AIB for my C4S (7k miles per annum, agreed value £47k) and wife's volvo, euro breakdown, our choice of repairer, we can drive other cars fully comp, protected ncd, postcode not especially safe (my car has to be garaged at night when at home) for £850, both cars :?

Bizarre! I'm lost for words with yesterdays experience of AIB who are a sponsor of this site. I certainly cant recommend them based on my experience.

Well, roll on Haley's Comet.

Since they appear to be endorsed by, or sponsor, this forum (or enjoy some kind of other link with them) I asked them for a quote. Their best rate was £649 versus £486 for a comparable special Porsche policy through Classicline. For reference - DirectLine quoted £490 (but I would have reservations about where it would go in the event of damage repair work).

£468 not £486

You're better off doing the research yourself as there are so many variables that affect your quotes. Some companies might not like your post code or your occupation. It's a bit of a lottery. A good quote from 1 company for somebody may be bad for the next person.

Comparison sites are a good place to start, at least they'll give you a bench mark.

mikezulu: My quote from AIB was on a different scale of difference.
Renewal premium c£350 AIB "Best Price Product" £1000+ for male >60yrs age with 4 years NCD in low risk cheshire post code, full clean licence held for more than 40 years and owning another car.

Being a sponsor would probably not mean any form of endorsement. It may mean something to be a sponsor initially. But I doubt if the owners could manage quality of services from sponsors to be able to endorse them.
They can however market the 36k forum members as a captive audience who might be interested in products and services. And for that 35k audience to have a list of product and service providers as a reference source to make enquiries has its uses.

Admiral are cheapest for me, but like other mainstream players their cover isn't like for like with the specialists, things like agreed value, repair freedom and euro breakdown cover included. I found Classicline were the lowest price with lower mileages, up to 5000 miles p.a., but over that for me AIB were best.

There must something going on for your quote to be so out of whack, maybe the Insurance company that AIB uses for prestige cars/high net worth (e.g. Hiscox) has introduced a minimum premium for new business :dont know:

That was my experience of AIB. 54 years old, clean licence since '81, my first 911 - bloke asked what experience I had driving Porsches as if it was a a Space Shuttle. I wanted multi-car for me and missus (50yr old, clean licence since '84, other car is a diesel Volvo estate, proper Dad car). 911 to be locked in garage overnight, max mileage 10k, if that. Best he could come up with was just under £1000 for poor claims record - two no fault rear enders in four years - and lack of experience.
I'll be looking for that comet as well.

That's mental pricing!

I'm with classicline and have been for a few years now. Premium on my 996T is £800ish (Not going to dig the paperwork out to check). Agreed value of £75k, all mods declared, estimated power of around 900hp, 5k miles a year, age 29 (me not the car). Cover also includes 6 track days a year!

Give classicline a call. They are nice people to talk to too!
