I am just at the point where I need to give my car a good polishing and wondered if anyone has a good product for the Bosalt Black colour. :?:

By "a good polishing" do you mean machine polishing?

If so, it depends on how badly marked the paint is. Light swirls or deep scratches?

The colour of the car is only relevant in that black will show swirls and scratches more than any other colour. The products themselves don't react differently to the colour of the paint.

Porsche paint can be a bit tricky to work with sometimes. Maguiars Ultimate Compound is a really good starting point and pretty easy to get hold of.

its a funny old thing,,,the paint has swirls,,the odd chip at the front and a few tiny scratches so its not a full restore job I just feel each time I wash the car the more I am taking off the shine. I was going to buy one of those electric grinding type thingyys !! to buff with ??

Yes washing the car will inevitably do that over time. The thing to do is to try and minimise it with a really good wash technique.

You will need a polisher to remove swirls and scratches. You can try doing it by hand but you will end up with a sore arm and only slightly less noticeable swirls. Or you could pay for a professional detailer to fully correct the paint for you. It depends how obsessive you want to get about your paint.

Maybe something like Autoglym SRP or Maguiars Ultimate Polish (which isn't really a polish but a glaze) will suit you which will 'fill in' the swirls for a while. It's only a temporary fix and would need doing every few months because the filling effect will wash away over time.

Mine is basalt black too and I use poorboys black hole to polish. All swirls disappear (for at least a couple of washes) and car looks amazing after. I have also started using Maquires quick detailer spray after polishing too and this adds a mirror shine for not a lot of effort.

I get the car fully mopped twice a year and then get the valet guys to use my products which were recommended on here.
black magic detail, It is hand made and can be brought off the shelf or custom mixed for colour and scent , I use the sirus dark edition shampoo and show wax this leaves a high wet look mirror finish but needs to be done every 3 months but not needed to get the car remoped every three months just twice a year.
the dark edition shampoo I use each time it's washed (weekly) and then use the blackfire quick detailer.

as a weekly top up I use Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray after it was recommended on here as a quick detailer, it has a high wax content and leaves a great shine after cleaning the car, just a quick 5 mins light spray and wipe off after the wash.

for the stone chips I used chipex which is supplied in your paint code with tiny applicators and everything you need.
