Is that a faux 'posers pouch' on the rear of the heel section or some kind of platform to assist with pedal angle :dont know:

I did think it looked like some sort of growth on the heel there!
 
It's so you don't wear the heel out whilst driving.

Mine are unlikely to, they're still in the box. Probably stay there.
