Clutch Master Cylinder Access

I am trying to access the clutch master cylinder on my 964 turbo by trying to remove the small panel in the floor below the pedals. However there is one screw directly under the throttle pedal and to remove this it seems necessary to pull the throttle pedal upwards ( inverse of normal pedal movement) but this would require the actuation mechanism on back of pedal to be disengaged. Any help greatly appreciated.

Its just a ball and socket arrangement, pull the pedal up and it will pop out and then you can take out the wood board.
