Excellent stuff Chief, the car looks amazing in the photo above , you will never finish it ! ... "Clutch" ! you should see the size of my left leg , i must be getting really old as i keep on getting "wobbly foot" in traffic , when i get out of the car i have to lean to the left to walk straight ! ... you had that before ?

Handy for running round the hills there Keith, like a haggis!!! :puh:

Chris

You have an unhealthy relationship with that car if it's making your knee tremble!

Right oh chaps,
So an update on the wheels. As you know wheels on The Red Baron will be the death of me, i'm sure of that!
As Ade has been off work due to an operation he ordered the paint in pre-mixed to make life a bit easier. As usual this did not happen.

I took one look at the paint and could tell that it was nothing like the Chrysler colour I wanted. We ended up mixing our own.

The colour on the mixing blade is what it should be. In the pot is what they supplied! I just can't cut a break here
Anyway, that little problem sorted. I thought i'd bring the wheels home to assemble and take a few beauty shots for posterity....

They really are big when you see them like this
Next job was to etch prime the ali washers and get a few coats of Fiat racing red on them with a nice finishing lacquer coat.

New Christmas Tree Decorations!

Next was the new valves.

So there we have it so far. I shall be cutting some decals at work to fit around the circumference of the center lock, just to break up all that lovely gold!
The next issue will be tyres. This is going to be a bit of a sticky wicket as I have some part worn Continental Contact 2's, but can't bring myself to put old tyres on such lovely rims.

I guess Joe is the man to chime in here with make, size and pressures to run with!

But joking aside if anyone wants to chime in with some makes and sizes?????

I'm thinking 215's & 255 or 265's.......any thoughts chaps?
Anyway I shall look forward to your replies.

Peace out,
The Red Baron

Is that colour available as a spray tan :dont know:

Zinger's I believe it's a Piz Buin Riviera Glow :p

Well, no one chimed in with tyre suggestions so I have gone with my gut and ordered some Conti Contact Sport 3's. I've gone with the standard size for 17's of 205/50/17 & 255/40/17's. These will be about a week to arrive as I've done a bit of a deal with my tyre pals at Plume.

In the meantime I thought i'd cut the graphics and show how the magic is done if someone fancies a go....

So here are the graphics cut and backed with high tack transfer paper.

After cleaning the surface you need to spray plenty of release fluid to allow you to slide the graphic into place.

Same on the pealed off decal.

Then try your best to align both pieces.

I use a felt squeegy to gently remove any trapped air and release fluid.

Then peel of the backing paper....Slowly! Using the felt squeegy, gently massage the graphic down. Now for the patient bit. Leave it alone in a warm place overnight for the fluid to evaporate from under the graphic. And.....

Hey presto, Bob's yer bestest uncle :bye:
Off home now, so will start to finish the wheel assembly tomorrow.
Peace out.
The Red Baron

Your attention to detail is simply staggering.

Those graphics transform the way it all looks.

:thumb:

As Pete says Chief "amazing detail" , they are coool as hell :thumb:

Awwww Chief, this just gets better! Absolutely spot on!

I think I would have put a protective coat or two of lacquer over the transfer, perhaps?

Cheers,
Paul

Thank you for the kind comments fellas, it is appreciated.
I have not posted for a while as i've been awaiting arrival of the tyres.
So today they turned up and I couldn't resist chucking them on!
So with a bit of help....

And finally chucked in the van ready to fit...I have gone with my gut and spec'd 205 and 255's to keep the balance of the car. The Contact 3's did feel especially sticky when fitting them, so hope i've made a good choice.

Now the only problem is the Baron is currently residing with Turbo whilst we get the heat exchangers sorted out.

The CAD drawing has been sent over to the laser cutters so with a little luck and a following wind we might see them back next week.
Almost there!
:bye:

So at last I managed to get a little time to put the wheels on the Baron.
Not the best pic's but then they are from my phone. Turbo has let me have him back for Christmas so's to be able to attend the Midlands meet Christmas Do

So all washed and tucked away next to the nice walm radiator.
Merry Christmas to one and all.

Ive got to say they look absolutely fantastic , what a difference they make , the soap and water picture is pure Porsche porn  the car has great stance and looks the business . Happy Christmas Chiefy .. Keith

Looks awesome. Love it.
