Hi all,

I'm in Banbury and looking for a MOT centre that will look after me. Do you have any suggestions for the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire area?

Tuthill wants to charge £100. Perhaps you know where they take the car to have it done so I can go direct.

Many thanks,

James

Halfords, £29.99?

Or why not ask Tuthill who they use. It will be on the certificate anyway!

You would take an air-cooled classic to Halfords?

Yeah maybe i'll call them - just didn't want them to know I'd skipped the middle man....

If you fancy a pleasant run down to Daventry I use Long March Motors for all my cars. The owner a real car enthusiast mention Porsche Club and he gives discount on MOT. Always found Andy to be fair and thorough

If you go to Tuthills he's only about 10 more mins down road, just off Daventry ring road

Geoff, just out of interest as I see you're in Rugby, same as me... do you use an Indy for any work on your 996 and if so which one, is it one the garages in Cov...? I'm on the verge of bagging my first Porsche (probably a 996 or early Cayman), well hopefully anyway, so would be interested to know.

Cheers, Nidge

 I'm in the wrong business :floor:

Hi, just seen your post. To date have not had the 996 serviced as took it in as a part ex deal on my speedster.
Several in area ,my pal has used Dovehouse in Northampton and is full of praise for them
PCT. Coventry also seem to have good press
For my speedster I used to use Fred at Motawerk, he has been servicing all Porsche for the last 30 years or so
As my car has full opc history and only minor as next might we'll get quote from Leicester Porsche as they seem a good bunch, the local group talk highly of them on the TOTEM rally we attend
Good luck with the purchase :thumb:

Cheers Geoff, duly noted and thanks for your reply :thumb: I've visited PCT a couple of times for a shuftie at their stock, also Shirleys in Meriden and JR Motor Co not far from PCT.

Since the Porsche bug kicked in I've started noticing them round here a lot more, quite a few Boxsters about, the odd Cayman and 911 too. Chap round the corner from me has a 997 Turbo, and there's a '69 / '70 orange 912 parked up on someone's drive not far from here, looks like a resto in waiting job.

My last few were done at Autofarm, Bicester http://www.autofarm.co.uk/services

Or Ken at Lighthorne filling station (01926 641925) will look after you, I've always recommended him :thumb:

Father in law takes his over to http://www.porschetechservicing.co.uk/Porsche_Servicing.html Martin in Coventry who arranges the MOT on his Porsche. He did work on my Cayman and is highly regarded.

The MOT is a standard series of prescribed Government tests for roadworthiness. Why would a Porsche specialist do anything different as part of the test?

I had mine carried out this year by mt Mercedes main dealer.
Others I know have ut done at run-of -the-mill testing stations.
Porsche OPC Chester send their MOT work off premises.

Maybe I've missed something, but I cannot see the need to have an older Porsche tested at a specialist unless the owner wants other things checking over that are not part of the Government's MOT test.

Not sure if any opc has mot facility
Silverstone Porsche get their mot's done at Johns Motors on the A5 at Fosters Booth
