Sudden misfire

Hi all
I have an '86 Carrera, which has been pretty reliable over the few years (and very few miles) that we've had her.

Went for MOT on Saturday, all well. On the way home, I opened it up a little and a nasty misfire happened at about 3000 rpm. The tachometer drops like a rock when it happens which suggests it is 12V electrical rather than fuel or HT. Tank is half full, anyway.

I have swapped the DME, and cleaned all the fuses. It starts and runs fine, until I give it some gas. I checked rotor arm & dizzy cap - nothing to remark.

Suggestions very welcome

Oh, and whilst I'm on, it won't stop when I turn it off. I have to stall it. This happened when the DME blew a year or two ago.

Ideas?
Thanks
Simon
