The GT3 RS Porsche should have made

About time for an update:

I previously had to remove the front lip spoiler to get up the driveway but decided to re-landscape some of the entrance garden to make it a little more RS-friendly. So for the last month or so I have spent every waking hour on this project
Now finally had the chance to test if all my efforts had paid off.

Here is the starting point. All the trees on the RH side and about 1 meter of earth have to be dug out.

Collected a load of natural slate from the valley where I live to build a wall

My mate popped by to check progress

Luckily I had some help on-hand

voilà ; stage 2 complete (stage 1 described elsewhere is in thread which was somewhat of a failure)

So this morning, being my birthday I couldn't think of a better time to remove the covers and do a little testing. Primarily this is what I'm up against; 65mm ground clearance vs. a rather steep incline.

Covers off and she's out for the first time this year :D

Be rude not to give a little blip of the throttle (3000rpm left in reserve as it was a little early for the neighbours).

Well truth be told I still have issues with an element of scraping but it is something that can be lived with and I no longer need to remove the bloody thing every 5 minutes.

The car even gets airbourne during this manoeuvre, about 5cm off the ground.

Nice project!

Big fan of the FD! Always wanted to one, but LHD :)

Maybe I'll see you on Carfreitag, but my 964 won't be ready :wack:

Blimey, the car project is pretty special....sorting out your drive too, and in
the winter..I tip my hat to you ! 8)

Undutched, Carfreitag sounds like a good idea. What are you having done on your 964?

Nick W, many thanks for the kind words :thumb:

Getting some more power. Have some GT3 engine parts and a Turbo going on :D (as in 4.0l Turbo). I hope it's ready by June/July to go for a few shake-down laps on the Ring and doesn't blow.

Will be there either with a GT86 and some suspension work or the 993. If I see your car, I'll try and have a quick chat! Haven't done a quick lap in over a year, as the 964 has gone overboard :nooo:

Your 4.0T project sounds absolutely mental; your not related to the late German Wings FO are you :D
Good luck with the project and really hope I get to see it some day :thumb:

Great car and a great thread. Picture heavy is always good :D . I am particularly impressed with your understanding wife. Anyone that puts up with a husband removing coatings whilst said item is balanced on a white chair has to be a keeper.

Can you not put a few raised blocks part the way up the slope to lift the nose off the drive. I have no steep slope but got some aluminium ramps made up to allow for my dropped curb verses the camber of the road.

I look forward to seeing more posts in due course and hope to see you on the Nordschleife.

Pip

I didn't see your car this weekend. Too bad!

I came with the GT86. Sub 9 minute BTG with a stock(!!) car. I mean that thing has Prius tires!!!

I am scared of the car already. :wack:

Undutched sorry I couldn't make it this weekend. I was there the weekend before and I was working all this weekend.
Sub 9 in any car is an achievement even more so when it sports Prius tyres :hand:

Thanks Pip :thumb: I wish the wife was as understanding as you assume
The solution for driveway above kind of works (when viewed through the lenses of man-maths glasses). I get an element of scraping everytime but it is better than removing the splitter every drive. I plan on an Alpine tour this year with the car so there should be a few nice pictures soon :thumb:

I did a 15min session at the NBR GP circuit about a month ago and there was a little understeer. I am going to refit the front 7mm spacers and see if the wider front track helps out on this front at the weekend. Is anyone else up at the Nurburgring this weekend, or Sunday to be more specific? Would be good to meet up :thumb:

Here is a little video of the previous outing warts an all

It is with great regret that I have to sell my car. If you are a beard or purist collector, please step away now. If on the other hand, the most developed and performance orientated 911RS experience is what floats your boat then this might be an opportunity that you will not likely see again. The car really is unique and has a host of improvements that total over £100,000 (Excluding car). The engine and gearbox are practically new having covered only 2885miles since being upgraded. The car is available for any inspection (I have access to ramps). An OPC or your own Mechanic/Inspector/Specialist are more than welcome to view/test. I have just collected the car today from Teichmann Racing where it was serviced. I also requested a RevRange read-out and there are no changes since when I purchased the car. I have now dropped the car off at Zens GmbH to be prepared for sale. The car is in outstanding condition as per the pictures earlier in the thread and below.

To arrange a viewing and discuss the car in more detail, the easiest way would be to fly from London-Stansted to Frankfurt-Hahn via Ryanair for about £20. I will then collect and provide free hotel accommodation if required.

There are currently Four Gen I 997GT3RS's for sale on Pistonheads:
Green LHD 2007 for €330,000
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-gt3-997/porsche-gt3rs-997-mki/4327193
Green 2008 for £250,000
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-gt3-997/porsche-911--997-gt3-rs/4198254
Orange 2008 for £199,995
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...ery-mileage-dry-stored-collectors-car/4300616
Silver 2007 for £149,995
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...porsche-997-gt3-rs-mk1-silver--orange/4001271

Prices in Germany are just as sporadic and as such it really is difficult to put a price on this car. The car will sell itself and I feel £130,000 ONO would be incredibly good value judging by current market prices (I was offered £107,000 for the car last year but I turned this offer down as I had no intention of selling at the time).

I have 100's of photos and documents relating to the car available upon request. If you require any further info please contact me by PM or phone: 0044 743 8642 996.

Really sorry to have to do this guys as this car is incredible :( Any input much appreciated.

Thats a shame you have to sell it soon. As you say hard to value but the new owner will know how much they feel comfy with

Car looks a ton of fun.

Sorry to hear that, I've been following this thread for ideas and inspiration...

Please create an advert (it's free) using this link:

You'll get more viewing hits than having it buried in your thread.

Best of luck with the sale.

Many thanks for the kind words guys :thumb:
To be honest Stuart, I'm not sure I want any more exposure. It will kill me to sell this car but the Mrs doesn't quite share my fascination of all things Mezger. I can tell her it is for sale and hopefully, with it being hidden away in a thread nobody reads, I will get to keep it for longer
Senoj, the car is without doubt the most complete, incredible driving machine I will ever experience. There has never been a moment where I thought any part of it needed to be improved (ground clearance aside).
