Does anyone know what this rusty nut in the picture below does or what it is connected to as looking in the parts catalogue on page 801-40, it is not shown.

Id like to replace it as it does my nut in on an otherwise clean car but dont want to remove it to find out its doing something important.

Thanks

for Chris,

Now, can i just undo it or will i have to take the plastic cover off and get my hand in behind to support the support before i take off the old and replace with new?

It holds the fuel filler tube to the wing (as Chris highlighted) You can undo it and it shouldn't move anywhere but if it does and you can't line up the hole you may have to remove the wheel arch liner. I would think holding the filler tube (when the cap is removed) with grips should stop it moving when you replace the bolt.

Mine has got a shiny Hexagon-Head Bolt, M 6 x 12

and is shamefully filthy in there. I should look in that part of the car more often

PS What a horrible colour for a car :thumb:

As above. It is an M6 x 20 hexhead bolt.

Are you sure it isn't an M6 x 12 90037803609 as it says on the Deroure site?

I've just checked,
The Porsche parts list does indeed list it as M6 x 12
The Porsche workshop manual gives it as M6 x 20 [possible misprint] :dont know:

Spray some of this on it ?
