Hi all,
Any idea what is the cause of the never ending smear on the inside of the drivers and passengers windows? Also is there a solution. My OCD isn't coping well. 997.2 S is the car

Thanks
FZP

Do you carry:

Dogs?
Children?
Excitable "ladies"?

In truth it will probably be some "cleaning" or lubricating product on the window rubbers, or worse, door internals.

Make sure the inside "velvet" is nice and clean.

None to any of the three. I've read that this isn't a unique problem, and that it is a common complaint. But before I go and pull a door card off, if there was some sage advice that would lead me in the right direction.
It looks like some sort of silicone lubrication. Interestingly, the smears appear on two different sections of glass on either door.

When I said "or worse, door internals", it can be grease from the regulator mechanism/runners.

Someone said it was oily water getting spat out by the window motor and he had the dealer cover it. Another guy said the OPC replaced the window rubber or similar.

I just accept they can't fix it on mine.

I get this and its annoying.
I am guessing, but believe it to be silicone lubricant, as a few years ago I had a squeaky window that the OPC fixed and ever since I have no squeak but do have smears on the front quartile after using the window when the car is wet.

I keep hoping the lubricant will dry up and the problem will go away - however the squeak might come back !

I have the same on my car. I only use it as a weekend car so I don't mind cleaning it every now and then, but it is a bit of a puzzle. I do find that my car is very humid inside, probably because it sits in a cold garage most of her life and is hence a sod to demist on a cold evening. Perhaps the condensation in my car is causing it?

Same problem on 2009 c4s. Might ask them to look at it in october service but no biggy till then

Same problem (997.2 C2S)

Dealer said it may or may not be covered under warranty. They wouldn't know until they took the doors apart.

I'm putting up with it for now :dont know:
