Should I buy?

I'm keen to purchase a 3.2, and have been looking for months only to realise the market is full of overpriced, saggy rust-buckets. My budget is £20k, which is the problem.

I have seen an early 3.2 with 130k on the clock which I am tempted by.

The pros:
- Top end rebuild done
- Gearbox overhaul and clutch done
- Brakes and suspension sorted
- Exhaust and heat exchangers fine.
- Recent new sills and bare metal respray
- Wings absolutely fine, no rust showing in or out
- Electrical wiring all sorted.
- I've seen it up on a ramp and could not find any rust. Floorpan seems solid as a rock.
- Seller seems genuine enough from his emails.

The cons:
- Interior is really poor. Headlining is old, door pockets sagging.
- Pascha interior is really tired and old.
- Some really (I mean really) small imperfections around bottom of B pillar area/rear wing, which had the sills not been replaced, would appear to be start of rust. Could indicate a problem.
- Not sure if rear wing looks perfect. From underneath there seems to be a flaw in finish; but from above looks perfect.
- B pillars definitely have been replaced at some stage as the little nipple is missing, so not replaced using original Porsche parts.

Of biggest concern is that the seller is abroad and selling through his mechanic. I cannot tell if the mechanic is a reputable Porsche specialist, or in cahoots with the seller, but he RAVES about this car and reckons it is a bargain at the price. Not on commission, so he claims. It is also MILES away and I've already done one trip, but was not yet able to test drive or see paperwork, for various reasons.

Seller will take £16,500.

Is this the one or too risky?

Too risky in my view.. The small bubbles will undoubtedly be "the tip of the iceberg"..

If you cant inspect it on a ramp by someone who is fully conversant with the foibles of this model then you are taking a massive risk IMO.

Thanks Kas - I suspect you may well be right. If there were no flaws whatsoever I'd be more comforted, but those could as you say be indicative of the rocky road to ruin
