...perhaps someone knowledgeable person could advise on this?

Does cold weather affect the workings of the tyre pressure monitoring system?

Might the dash light illuminate, say, on cold tyres until they warm up through use - assuming the air inside is cold and would heat up once driven.

Thanks

...got this from another source. May be of general interest to those with TPMS fitted.

If your TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) warning light goes on during a cold snap, it may not mean your tire has a leak. Tire pressure can decrease about 1 PSI (pounds per square inch) for every 10 degrees the temperature drops. It's not due to air escaping, but rather the air inside the tire condenses, taking up less space when it's cold.

Obviously you've found your own answer but yes TPMS is very sensitive to temperature and I would always expect it necessary to check and or reset the system at the first signs of a cold snap.

Direct and indirect TPMS systems take different amounts of time to be affected but ultimately both are.

getting after market replacement systems like the Tyresure TMPS system seem almost impossible for cars without OEM TPMS :dont know:
