PSE Wiring with Heated Window Relay

Hi Folks, can someone with a bit more electrical experience check if this will work?

Background
I have a switchable exhaust and would like to fit a PSE button for an OEM install. The button should switch the exhaust to quiet.

The PSE relay (996.618.980.03) has a speedometer link to quite the exhaust at low speed, obviously I don't need that function and the relay is very expensive (200 quid)

The Heated Window Relay (996.615.117.00) will power the LED on the button when pressed so looks like I can maybe use that. (35 quid)

Looks to me like the PSE uses the relay as a switched earth?

I have removed the speedo link from position 6.

Any comments welcome. Anyone know of another standard relay that will fit in the relay tray with Porsche carrier? is it a DPST?

Hope this helps, let me know if you need a run through :thumb:

Excellent, that's the ticket. I wasnt getting a reply, so I put it on rennlist and someone sent the exact same circuit. Looks like that's the way to go, though I would like a relay that fits in the Porsche relay carrier, I'll see if the durite will mount.

I think it's the same with the switched earth.

Either way, cheaper than the PSE relay! Cheers

Following! I have OE PSE back boxes, but don't have them wired in yet so they are always open.

I'll use the tried and tested method above. I've written out my schematic as I intend to use the OEM bridge circuits and fuses as I don't like cutting and splicing into existing wires. I'll also use the OEM wire gauge, though I can't find the right colours.

I'll update with all the part numbers.

Also interested to see how you wire this up, I've got aftermarket switchable exhausts and am currently using the silly supplied remote like an amateur.

Would be very grateful if you were able to do a proper 'how-to' for the less electronically inclined.

Sounds good! I'm mainly interested in the connector for the switch and vacuum solenoid, as I don't want to be using spade connectors.

Well its going to be a while before I get around to fitting all this as i work overseas, so i just like to plan these things while I'm away.

Looking at the terminals of the 0-728-02, it wont fit in the Porsche relay bracket and I want an OEM install. I cant find a latching reay that will work either so ithink i'll just use the OEM reay without the speedo cable.

Switch:

PSE Exhaust Switch - 99661398810A05
Plug Socket - Black - 99965003540

To wire the socket, use either:
99965010312 - 4 off
99965033000 - 4 off

Relay

996.618.980.03 PSE Relay

Relay Connector - 92861051100
Connectors Large (x4) - N0174906
Connectors small (x4) - N90335204

Bridge Connections:

These are banks of wires where Porsche take power for certain functions, so the dim lighting wire can be added here, to connect into the socket use:

Connector - 99965032022

For 12v Power, the schematic details CP 129 which is a weld point near the fuse box, this also extends to a bridge BS 2/1, so maybe able to use a spare point from there.

All bridges are in the fuse box and can be checked against the fusebox schematic:

Sorry - just noticed that the valve terminates to a standard Porsche connector block, X2/3, which is a 30 pin connector, located in the rear passenger footwell. I'll update when I can source the pins for that.

so I'll run the standard wire and connector from the valve actuator that comes with the kit to this location.
