Outdoor car cover recommendations

Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying a good outdoor cover to protect my 2007 997 Carrera 4S Coupe and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I see design911 advertise the outdoor stormshield car cover for £510, which is made to order. https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod126709/Outdoor-Stormshield-Car-Cover-Made-to-Order/

Would appreciate feedback if anyone has any experience of using this cover or something of a similar quality?

Thanks in advance

Why would you want to put an outdoor scratch cover on dear chap. They really are very susceptible to scratching your lovely paintwork. If you can do without one, I would leave this well alone, but I understand that some people might have a specific need.

I use the specialised one;

They will scratch the car up a bit - so do be prepared for that - it depends if youre sotring it for a while and not driving it - also I think it scratches less if you use all the straps that go under the car - I cant be arsed, but know i'm down to spend a day removing all the swirls it creates.

It does stop any issues with storing outside and if it's icey and you need to drive straight away - mines in a garage now.

I've got an expensive car cover sat in the cupboard they came with my 911 - I'll take a look at what brand it is and put it in the for sale section. Had the clips for underside of car, used it a couple weeks of times a year more to protect from all the tree sap in summer

Outdoor car cover

Personally, I would go for the carcoon as less chance of cover rubbing on bodywork when windy and causing light scratches/marks on the paint.

I know this goes against the grain of buying the most expensive whatsits for ones Porsche but I can recommend the Silverline large waterproof car cover.

I buy mine from ebay for about £16-22 depending on what deals are available.

They are waterproof and have a soft underside and last about 15 months before disintegrating.

I started using them after my uber expensive storm force cover rotted out and have not looked back since.

I had one rip after a high wind, so threw it away and bought another for £16 delivered 2 days later.

Halfords 'All Season' small fits my 4S a treat :thumb:
Weatherproof and with a soft underside + 3 securing straps

They do look very good, do you have one ? All good if you do

Car cover

Son has one for his Mazda RX8, very good bit of kit but if you are going to park in the street it coukd be prone to vandalism. We are fortunate in that we have a large driveway off road

I bought one straight away after getting my 997 this time last year thinking I'd use it immediately with not having a garage but I only ended up using it during the last heatwave to keep the sun from baking the interior. It's off again now and I've not had any issues with scratches. The car was cleaned before it went on and the Mrs helped with putting it on and taking it off so that the soft underside never went anywhere near the floor. We pretty much rolled back up the way it unfolded..

I got mine from https://prestige-covers.co.uk/

I paid around £200 but they've gone up a bit since then but they do seem to be good quality and I'll consider using it again during the worst of the winter months.
