Cayman GT4 - History

Hello All

I am looking to purchase a Cayman GT4 in the near future. I have seen this particular example for sale with Mercia Motors in Sheffield.

I am keen to understand the history if possible; is anyone familiar with this particular car?

I don't know the history but
Best of luck with hunting -they are fantastic cars

look out for front splitter -they take a pounding
and tyres -mine is running Dunlop sport max race 2s and they wear fast!
also check gearshift 1st to 2nd cold and hot

Looks OK to me from the pictures and has all the right 'extras' that most people seem to want.

I couldn't work out if the tyres are Cup2 or PS4S and my personal choice now would be favouring the latter for all round grip.

Were the plugs changed at the 4yr service last June? If the owner paid for the service then they will be but sometimes OPC have a 'habit' of missing the plugs on low mileage examples when they are serviced prior to sale :roll:

I'd want an 'over revs' check on it to be sure. Presume no OPC warranty extant? Latter wouldn't be a concern if everything else stacks up and you could pay for a 111-point check before sale.

There is a longstanding thread on PH HERE that tracks the 981 GT4 market so somebody may know the car if you post it up. There aren't many in the UK so it's a small pool to fish in.

Certainly has the extra's I;m after, and in my opinion its one of the best colours for the GT4.

I've been recommended to have a 'Peter Morgan' PPI carried out prior to purchasing the car, so I'd imagine the points you have raised will be covered within the report. Thanks for the pointers nonetheless!

Whilst Peter Morgan could undertake a PPI I'm not sure what he would give you any more than what a OPC 111-point check would give.

I could be wrong but his expertise lies in models that do not see OPC servicing due to age. :dont know:

I can't talk from experience unfortunately as this will be my first Porsche, however I have a friend who has had 911's for the past 15+ years and he swears by the Peter Morgan PPI's.

Agree a price with the dealer subject to a 111 inspection. Argue about who is going to pay OPC for it, dealer drives it there, they report to you. You decide buy/don't buy :thumb:

Is the car SOR or dealer stock? If SOR the seller may be able to 'arrange' OPC warranty and transfer it to you. Once it goes into the non-OPC trade any warranty extension without a full service is lost.

Probably the dealer bio. Some Porsche cars can be difficult to sell by non specialist garages or OPC unless they're a very good price or have good provenance/OPC warranty continuation.

I'd want to have a good look at it but if it's got all you want wouldn't rule it out.
