I have ruffled leather seats .... full electric with heating ... and they annoy me !

Heavy too ... drivers seat must be 30kg,

Others have mentioned that the seating position is too high ... sit on rather than in the car because of the subframe design and the electronics under the seats.

Made worst by the steering wheel being only reach adjustable. How could they NOT put in a height adjustabe steering wheel ???

The seats also don't hold very well in the twisties. I find myself bracing against the steering wheel and / or the central tunnel.

Anyway am considering some reclining bucket seats, maybe Sparco R100 Sky or BB Classics BB4s. Not expensive about £500

Gets expensive as seat sub-frames can be pricey.

Can one share their experience of this mod ?

Most interested in lower (adjustable) sub-frames.

Plenty of other topics on alternative seats but mainly on fixed buckets. As you say its the subframes that is where it all starts falling down a little for us.

I looked at Konig seats as a reclining alternative but couldnt find them anywhere.
I think the best best seems to be 997 sports seats for everything you want and they are essentially plug and play. Even the std 997 are supposed to be better.

I fitted a fixed Cobra bucket on sliding rails which is much better than std. Just be prepared to wait for a new one though as lead time is bad.

I've a pair of Cobra Nogaros in my 996 having had Cobra Misano recliners in a previous car....I don't need rear seat access although like Coullstar adjustable runners in case anyone else drives my car (which is very unlikely!). You'll see from the pic I've an Alcantara fetish by the looks of it as well 8)

How did you like the Misanos? Someone is selling them here in the states but they will need to be retrimmed. Does the hip adjustment knob need to come off to fit the 996? I saw somewhere that some one makes a slim knob but can't find the link.
I've pulled out fixed-back Corbeaus but have convinced myself I need tilting seats even though I've deleted the rear seats and run a DAS Sport cage and harness bar.
No one will sit back there but it would be nice to be able to throw a bag back there. Unnecessary concern ?

I had Misanos in 2 previous 996s & yes, they do need the inner backrest wheel/adjuster removing to ensure the seats fit properly....I think Cobra did a billet type adjuster on my later set of seats although it was a non standard option & still not fitted on the transmission tunnel side of the seats (see pic)

The problem you will have is matching the colour, so black maybe an option ?

I have a 944 turbo fitted with the deep winged sports seats that were popular in the Porsche 944 and 911 of the late 80s. The best and most supportive and comfortable seat Porsche has ever made IMO. 4 way adjustable.

I also have a 996tt with the sports seats. No where near as good a seat both in supportiveness or long distance comfort.

Lots of online evidence for people swopping the 996 seats into a 944 so I can't see why it can't be done the other way?
