Additional information Uber Rare Carrera RS 2.7 – only 113 made.
68 are known to exist worldwide, 14 cars in the USA of which 4 are in California.
Porsche’s supercar of the year.
Before you say there is no such thing as a 1976 RS: Porsche built 123 2.7 "RS Spec" Carreras in 1976.
They have a special VIN number series from 9116609001 to 9116609123 (mine is 9116609119). The "9" in the fourth-to-last position was used to denote the 3.0 RS and RSR models in 1974 and 1975, but in 1976 it was used for these 123 coupes.
In mid '70s, the touring racing in Europe (group 3), specified in its rules that the car must have the induction system of the series model sold that year. In '76 the Carrera 3.0 was introduced with the K jetronic. The K jetronic induction system is somewhat limited in ways of tuning so the racers all started complaining that the 3 last years' efforts were lost, and the factory relented and produced these 123 cars with MFI, to satisfy the racers for one additional year.

These cars were specified with non-tinted glass, left side mirror only, manual windows, no electric thermostatic heating, less soundproofing, a fat rimmed steering wheel, no headlight washers, Bilstein shocks, no sunroof, and no air conditioning unless those options were ordered. These cars were homolgated for the '76 season so they are designated as 'Carrera RS'. The '74 and '75 Carrera 2.7 models are not RS cars
If you are looking for one of the last RS engined 911, this might just be for you. Because the weight between the 1973 RS Touring and this 1976 Carrera are almost identical, so is the performance.
There is that snarling exhaust. Its noise is classic air-cooled flat-six, with a little extra nasal growl to remind you it's something extra special. The price difference between the two is considerable, so if you have wanted the experience of the 1973 RS but couldn't afford the price, here is your chance.
This #9119, Sondermodell, originally sold only to Porsche enthusiasts within Germany as a non-production special. The last street car Porsche ever produced with mechanical fuel injection. "This successor to the 1973 2.7RS with the identical engine and similar DNA-remains either unknown or misunderstood even by long-time Porsche enthusiasts. The Sondermodell coupes were not standard production 911s. They never appeared in factory brochures, and most Porsche books don’t even reference them. They were only sold in Germany, basically through the backdoor, during the last two months of the 1976 model year. They were the last model-year street Porsche with MFI“ quoted from –Carrera 2.7 book, Ryan Snodgrass. Same 911/83 RS mechanically fuel injected (MFI) engine that produced 210 bhp as the 1973 Carrera RS. Same weight,1075 kg, like the 1973 RS Touring. It came with several performance enhancements as standard, including flared rear wheel arches, Bilstein dampers, 18mm rear anti-roll bar, 6” front and 7" rear wheels, and a limited-slip differential. Like all the ‘76 911 range, the Sondermodell also benefited from Porsche’s adoption of the improved Thyssen zinc coating process for the entire bodyshell.
Germany was the only market to receive these last-of-the-line Carrera 2.7 Sondermodells, which were reserved for Porsche’s most favoured clients, many of them from the racing community. These cars are considered by many enthusiasts to be the last of the ‘real’ Carreras.
None of the 113 cars came from the factory with spoilers. If someone wanted a front and rear spoiler, the dealership was the one to add it and not the factory.
Originally, Bitter Chocolate, but repainted a more attractive factory Viper Green, which is period correct as this colour was offered by the factory for one year only in 1976.
Totally stock.
All previous owners known including a baroness.
Limited maintenance records available because of the German Data Protection policy.
Engine rebuilt by HPRS Motorsport in Cannes, France.
Passenger flag mirror was a dealership order.
Matching numbers.
Service records available as well as the manual(German), tools, jack/records, COA and video that was featured in Flat 6 magazine. Purchased in France, from a car collector and transported into California. Previous owner and I have always kept the car in a garage. Not driven in rain or snow.

When was the last time you saw a ’76 Carrera 2.7 mfi for sale? The Carrera MFI is a fantastic investment grade Porsche.
The legend of the ’73 Carrera RS lives on in the Carrera 2.7 MFI.
